Birdswood Canal Boat Trip Terms and Conditions
Birdswood Canal Boat Trip Terms and Conditions
Please read these important points and make sure you are happy with them before booking – the safety of visitors and crew is paramount
- Commercial terms
- If passengers do not arrive on time (meaning 15 minutes before departure time) for their booked trip, refunds will not normally be given.
- Trips will be approximately 2 hours to the Leawood Pump House and back to Cromford wharf.
- There may be circumstances outside our control, such as a reduction in the water supply to the canal, which may force us to cancel or truncate a trip at short notice. If we have no option but to cancel, we shall attempt to notify you by phone, text message, or email. You will be offered a booking on an alternative date or a refund.
- Our standard method of booking and paying for routine trips is via our website – where customers will be required to confirm that they have read and understood our terms of business: by exception and in quiet times – at the Masters discretion – we may allow walk-ups where payment is encouraged to be made by contactless credit or debit card.
- Charter bookings are only deemed to be confirmed when payment of the FCC invoice has been received: normally not less than six weeks before the cruise date. The invoice presented for payment will include the current terms and conditions of business.
- Any refunds of payments made by either on-line booking, or by invoice, will only be given if a least six weeks’ notice in writing is given of cancellation.
- Infection & Safety Precautions
- Crew members would normally assist passengers in boarding and disembarking the boat. However, to minimize risk of infection transmission we ask that passengers should be prepared to help any member of their group who might need help in boarding.
- Public toilets are available on the car park at Cromford wharf, although we have an on-board toilet if necessary.
- Passengers must remain in their seats throughout their journey, unless invited to move by a member of the crew.
- When leaving the boat at the end of the trip, passengers must wait until advised by crew that it is safe to disembark. Please maintain social distancing as far as possible.
- General Safety
- Passengers should be aware that there is one step from the wharf up to the boat and then five steps down into the passenger compartment.
- A safety briefing is given at the start of each trip. Passengers must listen carefully and comply with this and with any instructions from the crew.
- At the end of the trip, passengers must wait until told by crew that it is safe to disembark. We need to ensure that the boat is securely moored before allowing passengers to disembark.
- When leaving the boat there shall be only one person on the steps at any one time to avoid the risk of being kicked by the heel of the person in front.
- Refreshments (tea and coffee) may be offered depending on the availability of crew.
- Please notify the crew on arrival if anyone in your party has a limiting disability.
