Reed Pulling Work Party photo shows todays work party at the Cromford end of the Canal. Todays task was to clear weeds from the Lawn Bridge area. We met at 10am at the wharf and loaded the small tin boat with our tools. Everybody got stuck in and soon we began to make a dent in the never ending reeds. It was hard going and for those who have never done reed pulling its difficult work so you take your time and take regular breaks. We managed to clear some 25 – 30 metres of some of the thickest reeds either side of Lawn Bridge to allow Birdswood to navigate easily through what is a very narrow part of the canal. We would like to thank all of those involved including the 2 newcomers and hope to have more people involved for the next session on the 27th February. With any luck Lance will have completed Chelsea’s reed pulling tool and she can take on some of the hard work.
